Attention, book lovers!

Earlier this year, I created a book club group on Facebook.  However, only my friends joined and we all were too busy to commit. Now using my cousin’s help, we have revived and expanded our deserted book club into a full, running blog.
Please help us grow by following  and sharing!

2013’s blogging review!

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 4,300 times in 2013. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.

Liebster Award!

I have long  given up on that sort of posts, but when it comes to a nomination from my sweet friend Nancy, I mustn’t  overlook it! 😉  So the rules say the following, and I’m quoting Nancy:

“In order to accept the nomination, I’ll be nominating 10 blogs of my own. Preferably blogs with less than 200 followers, so we can shake up traffic in those awesome, yet-to-be-discovered writers’ pages.

If I contacted you as one of the nominated bloggers, you will be required to do the following:

1. Link back and recognise the blogger who nominated you. Which is yours truly :D
2. Answer 10 questions I’ll be posting at the end of this post.
3. Nominate 10 other bloggers for the award. Come on, spread the love.
4. Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer (I know you’re catching up)
5. Notify your nominees!”

I am sorry that I’ll have to break the last 3 rules; it’s been a long while since I last browsed any blogs, so whoever reads this, consider yourself nominated! 😉

As per Nancy’s questions, here I go:

1. Tell us something about yourself that isn’t in your About page.

I refuse to believe that life is unfair. Unfair things do happen, but only because they’re meant to change you in a fair way.

2. What’s one thing you can call yourself good at?

Other than being a bookworm who loves to write? Umm, photography perhaps??

3. Something you are/were once obsessed with?

I’m an obsessive person, so the list is endless. I can randomly highlight my obsession with punctuation and grammar!

4. What is your most commonly used word?

“Mam mam ma”! Which technically is not a word at all, yet it’s what I voice to mock everything and everybody! Mocking is necessary for my well-being! 😛

5. What is the happiest you’ve ever been?

That’s a tricky question! One can’t easily isolate that distinct moment; all the moments you have lived are entangled together to spin your life. (Wise much??) 😛

6. What’s one thing you’ve always been curious about? Or wanting to try/learn?

A bunch of things; skydiving, scuba-diving, mountain climbing, surfing… The sort of things that flood you with adrenaline.

7. If you were writing a novel, what would be the names of the male and female protagonists?

LOL! I have like 4 works in progress, and haven’t yet settled on the names in any of them! When I get stuck , I refer to my characters as “Protagonist”, “Friend 1”, “Mother”, “Bad guy 1”, “Bad guy 2”, etc.

8. What, in your opinion, is the most interesting place in the world? And why?

Antarctica I guess! Maybe because I have never seen real snow in my entire life, and Antarctica is all about snow!

9. What is the most personal topic you’ve thought to/did blog about?

The story of my life, but I’m saving that until my plot gets more intriguing! 😉

10. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

I’d definitely make myself less reluctant, if only we had a cure for procrastination!

Am I dreaming or it’s really my SITS day?!

Alright, I don’t know where to start! I’ve been awaiting this day for months, who doesn’t love to get featured in the fabulous SITS girls site?! Being overwhelmed with that sum of appreciation and encouragement is just so moving that it made me want to cry!

When I started this blog, it was just an outlet for the ramblings jumbled inside my head. I expected nothing except for few complements. But today, I almost got an arrest when I found 277 visitors in my stats, hailing from everywhere around the globe, telling me they love my style, the blog’s title or the design. I truly am unable to express how blessed and grateful I feel ! :’)

A new nomination..

So Ayesha, the author of the blog Doctoricious!, has nominated me for the “Reader Appreciation Award”.. I’m not posting to brag about being nominated, but I just want thank her for “appreciating” my rambling! 😀

As most of you know, there are rules for accepting such nominations, which involve mentioning few stuff about myself as well as nominating other bloggers, but I really am sorry for having to break the rules. I’m going to save you the headache and of course consider yourself nominated, you all are “appreciated”! 🙂

3 more award nominations!

Within 2 days, I’ve got nominated for “The versatile blogger award” by ALL FOR LOVE AND LOVE FOR ALLGirl Meets World; and Whimsical Abandon.. I really  appreciate it when people think my blog’s worth reading, and want to thank them for taking the time to read my  babbling, but I also want to say sorry for having to break the rules..

I went through this tagging dilemma few weeks back; I tagged 15 blogs, talked about myself, and I honestly am not ready to start this all over again! I hope you guys understand this, and accept my apology.. And by the way, your blogs look interesting! 😀

Inspiration kills..

Again, I’m out of posts! But this time it has to do neither with writer’s block nor with headaches! Although running out of inspiration drives me blank, blocks my mind, and frustrates me, I never expected too much inspiration to be as frustrating!!
Waves of inspiration have been striking me for the past three weeks; my head’s flooded with thoughts to express, but the hitch is, turning them into words! It’s like leaving a water tap open with no drainage!

If I could take a "snapshot" of my head, It wouldn't be better! Source: Google.

Since my so-messed-up daily routine doesn’t give me any control over its pace, everyday ends with nothing achieved. I can no longer focus. I wrote drafts everywhere; in the blog, in my cell phone, even on the back of my books, but eventually, I gave up and just trapped them inside my head! Being retained, inspired thoughts got tangled with postponed chapters of medicine to study and new skills to learn!! I swear, my closet is now way more organized than my head is!!

I see I’ve slipped into a vicious circle; I need to set a plan before I die drowning in inspiration!!

Confessions of a semi-doctor: (3) Forgotten blessings..

It’s true that we don’t appreciate what we’ve got until it’s gone. Yet, seeing someone aching for losing simple things we’re unaware that we’ve always got, definitely helps!

When I first started my clinical rounds, my mind was focused on one thing; learning how to treat the ill. However, those very people have given my mind such a good slap! Yelling at “him”: wait, there’s more to learn! Well, I can say I’ve learnt the kind of lessons that aren’t found in books!

Bumping into the disabled, the deaf and the blind. Talking to people who were too sick to sit straight or walk by themselves. Seeing those who have forgotten their beloved and couldn’t recall who they are… That certainly has got me losing the proper words to express how I felt about it, I only get to say that such experience has and will always remind me to thank God for granting me the gift of being who I am and for teaching me that I truly am blessed.. 😀

P.S. Sorry for not posting for like three weeks or more. I had a mini-block, but thank God, it didn’t last longer! 🙂
