Happy trinniversary!

Three years have passed since the most fortunate accident in my writing life. I’m so grateful for all the time you took to browse the rubbish I throw up in here. 🙂 😀

2013’s blogging review!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 4,300 times in 2013. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.

Liebster Award!

I have long  given up on that sort of posts, but when it comes to a nomination from my sweet friend Nancy, I mustn’t  overlook it! 😉  So the rules say the following, and I’m quoting Nancy:

“In order to accept the nomination, I’ll be nominating 10 blogs of my own. Preferably blogs with less than 200 followers, so we can shake up traffic in those awesome, yet-to-be-discovered writers’ pages.

If I contacted you as one of the nominated bloggers, you will be required to do the following:

1. Link back and recognise the blogger who nominated you. Which is yours truly :D
2. Answer 10 questions I’ll be posting at the end of this post.
3. Nominate 10 other bloggers for the award. Come on, spread the love.
4. Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer (I know you’re catching up)
5. Notify your nominees!”

I am sorry that I’ll have to break the last 3 rules; it’s been a long while since I last browsed any blogs, so whoever reads this, consider yourself nominated! 😉

As per Nancy’s questions, here I go:

1. Tell us something about yourself that isn’t in your About page.

I refuse to believe that life is unfair. Unfair things do happen, but only because they’re meant to change you in a fair way.

2. What’s one thing you can call yourself good at?

Other than being a bookworm who loves to write? Umm, photography perhaps??

3. Something you are/were once obsessed with?

I’m an obsessive person, so the list is endless. I can randomly highlight my obsession with punctuation and grammar!

4. What is your most commonly used word?

“Mam mam ma”! Which technically is not a word at all, yet it’s what I voice to mock everything and everybody! Mocking is necessary for my well-being! 😛

5. What is the happiest you’ve ever been?

That’s a tricky question! One can’t easily isolate that distinct moment; all the moments you have lived are entangled together to spin your life. (Wise much??) 😛

6. What’s one thing you’ve always been curious about? Or wanting to try/learn?

A bunch of things; skydiving, scuba-diving, mountain climbing, surfing… The sort of things that flood you with adrenaline.

7. If you were writing a novel, what would be the names of the male and female protagonists?

LOL! I have like 4 works in progress, and haven’t yet settled on the names in any of them! When I get stuck , I refer to my characters as “Protagonist”, “Friend 1”, “Mother”, “Bad guy 1”, “Bad guy 2”, etc.

8. What, in your opinion, is the most interesting place in the world? And why?

Antarctica I guess! Maybe because I have never seen real snow in my entire life, and Antarctica is all about snow!

9. What is the most personal topic you’ve thought to/did blog about?

The story of my life, but I’m saving that until my plot gets more intriguing! 😉

10. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

I’d definitely make myself less reluctant, if only we had a cure for procrastination!

2012.. Bits and pieces!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 7,600 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 13 years to get that many views.

In 2012, there were 45 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 77 posts. There were 257 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 54 MB. That’s about 5 pictures per week.

The busiest day of the year was March 13th with 145 views. The most popular post that day was Five people I can never trust!

The downsides of a late vacation!

Source: Facebook.

Well, I’m supposed to be having loads of fun making my dreams of a perfectly planned vacation come true, but hello, life doesn’t go the way we plan. Does it?!

I soon started realizing the negatives of having a vacation while everybody else has to work. I’m the only one left at home, which means there’s only one person who gets the cleaning, cooking, and the dishes. When my younger sister misses her school bus, I’m supposed to take her to school. I’m sort of “on call” for everybody!

I’m not grumbling though; I just thought inspiration would flood me once exams end, and I’d be achieving a lot of writing. However, it seems that exams come with inspiration while vacation takes it away! I feel blocked, gave up on NaNoWriMo, and before writing this totally pointless post was thinking hard for anything to write!

That’s it, sorry for wasting your time!

The bliss of having audience! ^_^

I was shuffling through my “stats” page when I stopped at this image. Starting my blog back in 2011, I didn’t expect much audience, but obviously, I’m blessed for reaching throughout the globe!

Thanks for always dropping by! 😀 😀

What if I hadn’t had a blog?!

Source: Facebook.

It’s been a year.. On today’s date last year, I was blogless! It got me wondering, what would I have been doing right now if I hadn’t accidentally created this blog?? And it didn’t take me much thinking to realize this blog has taught me a lot. I expected nothing when I started, but it turned out this little space might have changed my life!

Well, if I hadn’t had a blog…

  • I would’ve been sharing my thoughts on Facebook and they would’ve ended up read by few tagged friends who always give a good feed ’cause I’m their friend! Blogging is more professional, it’s talking to the world, and if people didn’t like your blog, they simply would abandon it!

  • I would’ve not met amazing new people who love to write and share my same interests and views. Where else would we have met?

  • I would’ve not improved my English.. Yes, I’ve learnt much language by reading for others and have found out as well new ways and styles to speak out..

  • I would’ve had a messed up schedule.. Blogging is all about arranging your thoughts and creating time out of no where!

  • I would’ve not exercised my patience.. Checking my traffic and waiting for likes, comments and all! 😉

  • YOU would’ve not found my lovely blog! 😛 😉

What if you hadn’t had a blog??

A new nomination..

So Ayesha, the author of the blog Doctoricious!, has nominated me for the “Reader Appreciation Award”.. I’m not posting to brag about being nominated, but I just want thank her for “appreciating” my rambling! 😀

As most of you know, there are rules for accepting such nominations, which involve mentioning few stuff about myself as well as nominating other bloggers, but I really am sorry for having to break the rules. I’m going to save you the headache and of course consider yourself nominated, you all are “appreciated”! 🙂

Falling apart!

I’m back! Sorry for acting like I was abducted by aliens, but I’m so overwhelmed.. My schedule is messed up, exams are coming closer, and Egypt is politically on fire, which leaves me with a viscid sense of apprehension, insecurity and absolutely no desire to read or write a single letter!

It agonies to see all your dreams of justice, freedom and a better tomorrow burn into ashes right in front of your sight! SCAF’s beasts kill with no mercy; they’ve recently shot another schoolmate of mine right in the back of his head, while he was saving the injured!

Alongside, they’ve manged to kill our spirits! After all this fighting, after almost winning, people have let go! Most Egyptians now are seeking the easy way; the peace of their minds even if it’s fake, and even if provided by Mubarak’s man who has unexpectedly reached the “finale” of the presidency race!!

Now we’re left with two choices; Mubarak’s regime regaining it’s strength, or being ruled by a political party whose loyalty to the revolution is pretty controversial! And sadly, all the expectations pour into the side of Mubarak’s man, “Ahmad Shafiq“, and people have started to accept the defeat!

I feel quite confused, yet all I’ve got now is praying and praying and praying till a shred of light sneaks in!

I’ve always been so traditional.. Even when it comes to reading, I’ve never felt comfortable reading on a screen. It just doesn’t feel real; e-books don’t allow me to sense the texture of the pages as they crunch when I flip through the book, and of course, they don’t smell like real books! 😛

However, since technology is now the trend, e-book readers have invaded the market and one can’t just overlook the fact that they’re making the reading experience more enjoyable and closer to reality..

Yesterday, while browsing my mother’s Galaxy-Tab, I noticed the installed “Kobo” reader and saw it was appealing! I’m not sure I’ll stay that interested, but I’ve already downloaded few books and planned to start “e-booking” soon. I might begin with “Pride and Prejudice” for it’s so recommended, but I’m open to any suggestions! 🙂
